PMO Manager

Position Objective

The PMO Manager will manage the MHT Portfolio by connecting the business objectives with the individual projects, to deliver and sustain the expected business benefits. The Portfolio Management System will combine the Project Business Case information and the project investment data, to provide a continuous enterprise system. Effective Portfolio Management requires the integration of the different levels of the business through effective stakeholder management and communication.
The objective is to establish an Enterprise Global PMO and to act as a Centre of Excellence.
The role will lead the portfolio management discipline and provide a quality assurance and governance oversight for the individual programs and projects. The PMO Manager will be required to report and present at the ongoing PMO SteerCo meetings.

Key Responsibilities

Business Management
• Communicate business objectives, provide guidance, and assign targets to business units
• Organise, report and present at the ongoing PMO SteerCo meetings
• Facilitate the project gate review meetings
• Manage portfolio changes effectively

Financial Management
• Manage the monthly Portfolio Management Reporting process
• Facilitate the annual capital planning process
• Review proposed investments, portfolio capital spend and allocation of resources within organization, and facilitate approval of relevant investments to support the execution of business plans

Operational Management
• Participate in meetings and reports to critical stakeholders to keep stakeholders well informed and enable them to fulfill oversight role
• Delegate tasks, accountabilities and authority as required while providing guidance to ensure smooth on-going projects
• Review relevant reports submitted to office identify improvement opportunities, operational gaps, legal loopholes, prevent risks, and resolve problems

Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, Provide Leadership and advice where and when required.
Coach and mentor National Engineers and Others as part of skills and knowledge development and their career path progressing/advancing.

We are looking for qualified and driven individuals who have

• Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10-15 years of experience in Business Management, Accounting, Project Portfolio Management and/or related fields

At least 10-15 years plus experience, prefer in heavy industry.
• At least 5 years experience as a Senior Leader.
• Experience in portfolio management tasks such as setting business objectives, project prioritisiation, capital allocation, capital spend management and gate review meetings.
• Comfortable presenting and reporting at SteerCo meetings
• Experience with the project lifecycle process and the connection to the portfolio level
• Excellent communication skills to all stakeholders (SteerCo, operations, site teams) and consultants.
• Plan and schedule work to meet time commitments and maximise resource utilization.
• Monitor progress against work schedule to ensure any issues that may impact on schedule, budget or other areas of the portfolio are identified.
• Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, closely liaise and communicate work plan and progress.
• Good experience in coaching and training of other junior engineers and team members.
