Business Development Manager (Open to Expatriates)
JOB SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager plays a strategic role in driving sustainable business growth by leading global sourcing initiatives, developing new commercial opportunities, expanding markets for tungsten products, and building strategic partnerships across the mining and critical minerals value chain. The position is responsible for delivering market intelligence, conducting commercial and technical evaluations, ensuring responsible sourcing compliance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the Company’s long-term growth strategy and competitive advantage.
MAIN DUTIES
Tungsten Procurement and Compliance
- Develop and execute business development strategies to identify, evaluate, and secure new sources of tungsten-bearing materials, including mining projects, concentrates, secondary resources, and other strategic feedstock opportunities.
- Conduct geological, technical, and mining assessments to evaluate mineral resources, ore quality, production potential, and the commercial viability of existing and prospective mining assets from a tungsten sourcing perspective.
- Perform OECD Due Diligence assessments for mining operations and mineral supply chains by evaluating conflict-related, human rights, environmental, governance, sanctions, and other responsible sourcing risks in accordance with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with mining companies, project developers, suppliers, government authorities, industry associations, and local stakeholders to support long-term sourcing partnerships and business development objectives.
- Lead supplier due diligence and compliance activities, including conducting annual supplier assessments and surveys, ensuring compliance with the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) standards, OECD Due Diligence Guidance, and the Company’s responsible sourcing policies
- Monitor global tungsten market developments, mining project pipelines, regulatory changes, and geopolitical trends to identify new sourcing opportunities and potential supply chain risks.
- Support commercial negotiations, technical due diligence, and contract execution for strategic sourcing opportunities, working closely with cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, Operations, Sustainability, and Supply Chain.
- Prepare business cases, investment evaluations, market intelligence reports, and management presentations to support sourcing decisions, and strategic partnerships.
- Maintain a robust pipeline of strategic sourcing opportunities and contribute to the development of resilient, diversified, and sustainable tungsten supply chains.
Tungsten Intermediates Sales & Downstream Products Primary Research
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and generate qualified sales leads for tungsten intermediates produced by Masan High-Tech Material, including ammonium paratungstate (APT), tungsten oxides, and other value-added tungsten products
- Conduct primary market research to assess customer demand, product specifications, technical requirements, qualification processes, and emerging applications for tungsten intermediates and downstream tungsten products to support business development and market expansion
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to increase market share for tungsten intermediates and support the commercialization of new downstream tungsten products.
- Identify, evaluate, and penetrate new geographical markets, customer segments, and strategic applications to drive sustainable business growth.
- Conduct regular customer visits to understand production capabilities, manufacturing processes, demand forecasts, market potential, and future growth opportunities while strengthening long-term customer relationships.
- Monitor global tungsten markets, pricing trends, supply-demand fundamentals, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies to identify new commercial opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare market intelligence reports including but not limited to customer insights, and strategic recommendations to support product development, pricing strategy, sales planning, and long-term business growth.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience, skill, knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Geology, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A master’s degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in mining, critical minerals, metals, mineral sourcing, international sales, business development, strategic procurement, or market intelligence. Experience in the tungsten industry is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of mining operations, mineral supply chains, tungsten concentrates and intermediates, international commodity markets, and responsible sourcing principles.
- Good understanding of OECD Due Diligence Guidance, Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) requirements, ESG standards, and responsible mineral supply chain practices.
- Proven ability to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and develop strategic sourcing opportunities, commercial partnerships, and new business opportunities in international markets.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to assess market trends, pricing dynamics, investment opportunities, and prepare business cases and market intelligence reports.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers, customers, government agencies, and industry partners.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively in an international business environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Experience with market intelligence tools is an advantage.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and highly ethical, with strong problem-solving skills, sound business judgment, the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural teams, and willingness to travel internationally as required.
