Senior Metallurgist – Plant

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for applying engineering knowledge and talent with emphasis on internal/external customer support with a requirement on displaying a fundamental understanding of mineral processing methods. The individual will apply this technical knowledge on the relevant mineral processing circuits, to provide technical support in the form of information/tools/resources to both operations as well as to the plant metallurgists. The ongoing aim is to improve business effectiveness, reduce process variation and increase technical understanding of economic mineral extraction, which directly impacts the company’s quality, service, productivity and profitability.

MAIN DUTIES

• Comply with all HS&S requirements of NPMC. This includes ongoing completing of Take-5s, Task Observations, JHA’s, HAZOP studies, 5S audits and the conducting of regular workplace inspections as required.
• Review of departmental Take-5’s, Task Observations, JHA’s, HAZOP studies, 5S audits and Workplace Inspections.
• Management of Change (MOC) initiation, completion and review.
• Review and administration of the Production Planning module in SAP.
• Mentoring the plant metallurgists, final product administrators and metallurgical technicians.
• Formulating and monitoring metallurgical test work programs.
• Updating data to the required databases including the data historian.
• Metallurgical Accounting on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Weekly and monthly reporting of water data, power data and reagents consumptions.
• Assist with the daily reporting of all circuits’ KPI’s on the relevant circuits.
• Data analysis and continuous review of the relevant circuits’ KPI’s and the setting of operational strategies to optimize the relevant circuits’ performances.
• Weekly and monthly circuit report reviews and providing feedback to the plant metallurgists.
• Assist the metallurgical department requirements when required. This includes circuit surveys for other circuits.
• Conduct SOP, procedure and mineral processing technical training for Metallurgy team members to ensure safe and compliant work execution.
• Reagent consumption review, monitoring and planning management.
• Complete projects as required and update the metallurgical project database
• Work with other NPMC departments as required to achieve targets.
• Performance reviews on plant metallurgists, final product administrators and metallurgical technicians.
• DMS administrator with championing the DMS for the metallurgical department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• University Graduate, major in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical or relevant fields
• Required knowledge and understanding processing, metallurgy, technical…
• At least 3 years of working experience in metallurgy field
• Compliance with the values and ethics of NPMC
• Good Interpersonal and Communication skills
• Proficient in MS office.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Be an ambassador for NPMC in relation to both internal and external customers.
