Masan Tungsten Company Proposes Strategic Solutions to Advance Downstream Mineral Processing Development in Thai Nguyen
At the Conference on the development of the downstream mineral processing industry in Thai Nguyen province for the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, Mr. Phan Chien Thang, Deputy CEO of Masan High-Tech Materials (MSR), said that its subsidiary Masan Tungsten Company (MTC) will continue expanding the tungsten value chain in Thai Nguyen, with the goal of establishing an integrated production ecosystem covering mining, refining, downstream processing and recycling.
The Conference on the Development of the Downstream Mineral Processing Industry in Thai Nguyen Province was organized this afternoon by the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province and attended by Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; and representatives of provincial departments and agencies. The conference was regarded as a landmark event for Thai Nguyen’s minerals sector. Widely regarded as a landmark forum for shaping the future of the province’s minerals industry, the conference focused on defining strategic directions for the sustainable development of mineral processing.
At the conference, MTC’s practical insights attracted strong interest from delegates and contributed valuable industry perspectives to the province’s strategic direction for advancing its mineral processing industry.
Drawing on MTC’s experience as a pioneer in advanced mineral processing, Mr. Phan Chien Thang shared practical experience in developing the tungsten value chain in Vietnam, while emphasizing the role of downstream processing in enhancing the value of mineral resources and developing higher value-added products. He also proposed solutions to promote the development of the downstream mineral processing industry in Thai Nguyen, with the aim of strengthening the province’s position in the critical minerals sector.
As part of this vision, MTC plans to expand its tungsten oxide processing capacity, invest in a tungsten metal powder manufacturing plant, develop a tungsten recycling plant based on circular economy principles, and attract strategic domestic and international partners. These initiatives will contribute to further strengthening Vietnam’s tungsten value chain while creating a foundation for Thai Nguyen to enhance its role in the global critical minerals value chain.
As a long-term investor in advanced mineral processing, MTC also called on the Provincial People’s Committee and relevant authorities to continue supporting the industry by accelerating investment approval procedures, strengthening policy incentives for advanced mineral processing and high-tech manufacturing projects, and creating a more attractive environment for strategic domestic and international investment.
