Masan High-Tech Materials Honored Among Vietnam’s Top 100 Sustainable Businesses

Dec 08, 2025

On December 5, 2025, in Hanoi, Masan High-Tech Materials (MHT) was honored in the “Top 100 Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam (CSI 2025)” announced by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). This marks the eighth consecutive year MHT has secured a place in this prestigious ranking.

With the theme “A New Chapter of the Green Era,” CSI 2025 highlights a strong shift among Vietnamese businesses, from growth driven purely by output to a more balanced approach that integrates economic goals with social and environmental responsibility. As the world moves toward green standards, the mining industry is taking on a new role: supplying the strategic materials that power clean industries such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, aerospace, and semiconductors.

MHT’s tungsten, fluorspar, and bismuth products play a critical role in boosting equipment performance and supporting the development of clean technologies. Thanks to their superior physical properties, these materials are used in wind turbines, solar panels, batteries, electric vehicles, and semiconductor components, contributing to global Net-Zero ambitions and emissions reduction.

Aligning governance with global ESG standards

The CSI 2025 Index evaluates companies across four ESG pillars: Economic, Environmental, Social, and Governance. For MHT, ESG is not just a checklist to enter the awards program; it is a strategic foundation for us to redefine modern mining.

In 2024, the company completed a set of ESG KPIs for 2025–2030, creating a framework to measure, monitor, and improve its environmental and social impacts in line with global standards. MHT aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by 2030 compared with its 2023 baseline and reach net-zero emissions by 2045, aligning with global climate action.

In 2025, MHT’s high-tech tungsten plant (MTC) earned Responsible Minerals Assurance Process certification (RMAP), one of the world’s most reputable standards for responsible “3TG” mineral supply chains. This recognition enables MHT’s tungsten products to enter global high-tech supply chains and reinforces the company’s position as a Vietnamese business meeting international ESG standards. MTC also maintains key certifications, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 50001:2018.

Driving Innovation and Resource Circularity

MHT has been accelerating its green production strategy through a range of technology initiatives designed to cut emissions and optimize resource use. These include recycling 78% of wastewater, planting energy crops on mining land, replacing fluorescent lighting with energy-efficient LEDs, researching the reuse of oxide tailings as construction materials, and converting coal-fired boilers to biomass. These measures strengthen operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and promote green mining in line with global benchmarks.

Supporting Sustainable Community Development

Beyond meeting sustainability standards in technology, environment, and governance, Masan High-Tech Materials places strong emphasis on social responsibility, aiming to build a prosperous and resilient community. With a “people-centered” strategy, the company invests heavily in training, welfare, and workplace safety, while fostering an inclusive and professional working environment. Over 40% of its employees have been with the company for more than a decade. In 2025, MHT was also named a “Great Place to Work” for the third year in a row.

For local communities, MHT pursues a “Partner – Share – Grow Together” approach through practical initiatives such as clean-water projects, education and healthcare support, roadway and infrastructure improvements, livelihood assistance, agricultural extension programs, and micro-lending for household businesses. These programs benefit thousands of locals and strengthen the trust and long-term partnership between the company and local communities, an essential foundation for sustainable development.

Being named in the Top 100 Sustainable Businesses for the eighth consecutive year reflects Masan High-Tech Materials’ enduring commitment to responsible mining, technological innovation, and community partnership, hallmarks of the company’s long-term sustainability strategy.
