Masan High-Tech Materials: Innovation Driving Greater Resource Value

Jun 29, 2026

Amid rising global demand for strategic materials, Masan High-Tech Materials Corporation (UPCoM: MSR) has remained steadfast in pursuing an innovation-led sustainable development strategy. With science and technology, innovation, and sustainability as key growth drivers, the Company continues to enhance its competitiveness, unlock greater resource value, and strengthen Vietnam’s position in the global high-tech materials supply chain. Its efforts to apply advanced technologies, foster innovation, and deliver impressive business performance have been recognized through numerous prestigious awards.

Driving Continuous Improvement

Innovation lies at the heart of MSR’s long-term growth strategy. The Company continues to invest in research and development, advanced technologies and process optimization to maximize mineral recovery, increase resource value and improve operational efficiency across its integrated value chain.

In 2025, Masan Tungsten Refinery achieved a tungsten recovery rate of over 96%, despite significant challenges arising from fluctuations in feedstock quality. Through initiatives such as the Fluorite Cleaner 5 Expansion Project and the reprocessing of fine gravity tailings (HG), MSR continuously improved mineral processing technologies, optimized reagent consumption, energy efficiency, equipment utilization and operational data analytics, enhancing the recovery of tungsten, fluorite and other valuable minerals.

The Company has also accelerated downstream processing to create higher-value products. By continuously refining production methods and process technologies, MSR has successfully developed advanced materials including ammonium metatungstate (AMT) and ultra-fine tungsten oxides, creating the potential to generate millions of US dollars in additional annual value. Notably, in 2025, MSR successfully produced 99.99% ultra-high-purity ammonium paratungstate (APT) and delivered a total of 72 tonnes to premium-market customers.

These achievements reflect the Company’s long-term commitment to research and development, continuous improvement and the adoption of advanced technologies, digitalization and AI-powered operations. Together, they strengthen MSR’s competitiveness, maximize the value of Vietnam’s mineral resources and reinforce the country’s role in the global strategic materials supply chain.

Building an Innovation Culture Across the Organization

Beyond technology investments, MSR has cultivated a culture of innovation throughout the organization. Each year, the Company organizes the MHT Innovation Initiatives Program and the Innovation Day, while launching its digital MHT Idea Management Platform in 2025 to encourage employees to submit ideas, collaborate on improvements and scale successful innovations across the business.

In 2025 alone, the platform recorded 7,336 ideas, with 1,341 initiatives approved for implementation, ranging from everyday operational improvements to high-impact technological solutions. These results demonstrate that innovation has become embedded in MSR’s corporate culture, driving operational excellence and supporting sustainable long-term growth.

Strong Growth Momentum with Significant Long-Term Potential

MSR reported revenue of VND 7,443 billion in 2025, contributed more than VND 1,030 billion to the State budget, and invested over VND 3.8 billion in community development and social responsibility programs.

The Company has maintained strong momentum in 2026. Following first-quarter revenue of nearly VND 3 trillion and net profit after tax of VND 537 billion, MSR estimates an additional VND 690 billion in net profit for the second quarter, bringing first-half earnings to approximately VND 1,227 billion. The performance reflects favorable commodity market conditions, a continued focus on higher-value products and ongoing operational optimization.

Looking ahead, MSR expects further growth as ore processing volumes recover from the third quarter following the approval of its revised mining license, enabling the extraction of an additional 28 million tonnes of ore.

In addition, Nui Phao Mining, an MSR subsidiary, has been selected to conduct exploration at the Nui Phao Extension and Nui Chiem deposits, which are estimated to contain approximately 115 million tonnes of additional polymetallic tungsten resources. This provides a strong foundation for expanding mining and downstream processing activities over the next 20 to 30 years while supporting sustainable value creation for all stakeholders.

Advancing the Next Chapter of the Tungsten Value Chain

Over the past 16 years, MSR has built one of the mining industry’s few fully integrated tungsten value chains. Supported by advanced production technologies and the deep-processing expertise of its Vietnamese engineering team, the Company is well positioned to optimize resource utilization, ensure product quality and drive sustainable industrial development.

Looking ahead, MSR plans to further expand downstream processing and develop a tungsten recycling facility to strengthen its circular economy model. This development strategy not only addresses growing global expectations for ESG performance, responsible sourcing and supply chain transparency, but also aligns with Vietnam’s national strategy to promote science, technology and innovation while strengthening capabilities in future strategic industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, electric vehicles and clean energy.

As global demand for strategic materials continues to accelerate, MSR remains committed to sustainable growth driven by science, technology and innovation. By transforming Vietnam’s strategic mineral resources into high-value advanced materials, the Company is strengthening its global competitiveness while contributing to Vietnam’s emergence as a key player in the international advanced materials supply chain.

On June 26, 2026, at the Announcement and Honoring Ceremony for VIE50/VIE10 and ESG100/ESG10, organized by Finance and Investment Newspaper in collaboration with Viet Research, Masan High-Tech Materials Corporation (MSR) was honored among the Top 10 Most Innovative and High-Performing Enterprises in Vietnam 2026 (VIE10) in the Energy sector.

This recognition is a testament to MSR’s continuous efforts to master technology, transform strategic minerals into high-value advanced materials, and build an innovation-driven enterprise with internationally competitive capabilities.
