Affirming Vietnamese Intellectual on the Global Map of Advanced Materials

Dec 27, 2025

Hanoi, December 27, 2025 — As Vietnam approaches the close of a transformative year, the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress convened in Hanoi with a powerful message: progress in the modern era is driven not only by resources, but by intelligence, innovation, and national resolve. Amid thousands of exemplary contributors from across the country, the product display of Masan High-Tech Materials (MHT – Nui Phao Mining), a member of the Masan Group, stood out as a compelling symbol of Vietnam’s growing industrial confidence.

A New Chapter for Vietnam’s Critical Minerals

On the morning of December 27, General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and senior leaders of the Party and the State visited the Masan High-Tech Materials exhibition. On display were tungsten crystals, copper concentrates, and a portfolio of advanced materials developed from the Nui Phao polymetallic tungsten mine—one of the world’s most significant sources of critical minerals.

Located within the exhibition zone of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the display reflected something far greater than corporate achievement—it represented Vietnam’s determination to master its destiny in the global high-tech materials landscape.

Lingering at the section dedicated to deep-processed products, General Secretary To Lam offered strong recognition of the company’s progress, stating: “These are products the world is paying close attention to—and Vietnam is capable of producing them. This is a strength that must be further developed.”

He praised Masan High-Tech Materials for mastering extraction and processing technologies, emphasizing the strategic importance of exporting high-value, knowledge-based products, rather than raw minerals—a decisive shift that places Vietnam higher in the global value chain.

The moment was further enriched by the presence of Former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, who reflected emotionally on the project’s early days. Recalling his visits to Dai Tu District in Thai Nguyen Province when Nui Phao existed only as outlines on a map, he expressed deep pride: “At a time when the world is competing fiercely for these minerals, Vietnam possesses them. That is something to be proud of.”

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also noted that the project’s transformation began when Masan assumed stewardship in 2010 – laying the foundation for the success seen today.

Turning Aspiration into Capability

In an era defined by global competition for critical minerals—essential to clean energy, semiconductors, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing—Vietnam’s ability to independently produce high-tech materials carries significance far beyond economics. It speaks to national capability, technological sovereignty, and long-term resilience.

The transition of Nui Phao from a foreign-linked project to one fully operated, governed, and advanced by Vietnamese expertise stands as compelling evidence of the country’s growing technological maturity. It is proof that Vietnam is not merely participating in global supply chains—but shaping them.

Today, Masan High-Tech Materials is not only a leading contributor to the state budget in Thai Nguyen Province and a major employer for local communities. It has also become a modern embodiment of patriotic emulation in the new era—competition driven by intellect, innovation, and the ambition to reach new technological frontiers.

From Patriotism to Global Integration: A Shared Journey

The 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress brought together 1,326 outstanding representatives among more than 2,200 delegates nationwide from the 2021–2025 period. Masan High-Tech Materials’ presence at the exhibition was not merely recognition of one enterprise; it was an affirmation of a broader truth: Vietnamese enterprises are capable of shouldering strategic responsibilities, mastering core technologies, and standing firmly on their own as they integrate into the global economy.

As Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh remarked at the Congress, patriotic emulation movements over the past five years have created remarkable achievements – helping the nation overcome challenges, shift momentum, and lay the groundwork for a new phase of development.

Against this backdrop, the proud display of “Made in Vietnam” tungsten products at the national stage delivered a powerful response to Vietnam’s collective aspiration. It was a quiet yet confident declaration that Vietnam is entering its next era—not just as a supplier of critical minerals, but also as a manufacturer of high-value materials that matter to the world.
